Releasing his first album, Moon, Light, and Flowers on the Polygram label in 1979, Cretu's other work paid off with him getting his first award in 1980, this one being gold for his work as a producer. Graduating in 1978 with distinctions, Cretu started working as a studio musician and arranging songs.
